Another Move of “Sunshine Walking Assistance” for “I Can See”

       The smooth implementation of “Sunshine Walking Assistance” social charity activity (i.e., Phase II of “I Can See” project) in the region has successfully established a charity platform for “support from Party Committee, guidance from government, and participation from the society” and innovated the targeted poverty alleviation model, having impact in the region and even nationwide.

        This project won the Special Award for Organization of the 6th “Role Model Touching Inner Mongolia”, and was awarded“Sole Special Contribution Award” in Asian region by Asian Foundation for the Prevention of Blindness. Party and state leaders like Liu Yandong and Sun Chunlan have highly praised this activity and made important instructions; and the autonomous region will promote the normalization of “Sunshine Walking Assistance” into government work report.

       On May 3rd to 4th, the 4th Member Congress of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch was held in Hohhot. At the conference, Lei Yongsheng, President of our Foundation, was consecutively elected as the Standing Director of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch. At the closing ceremony, a donation ceremony for “Sunshine Walking Assistance” in the region was held. President Lei Yongsheng represented our Foundation to announce the start of Lao Niu “I Can See” project (Phase III) as a project sponsor.

         Chen Zhu, Vice Chairman of NPC Standing Committee and Chairman of Red Cross Society of China, and Li Jiheng, Secretary of Party Committee of the Autonomous Region and Director of the Standing Committee of Autonomous Regional People’s Congress, attended the conference and delivered important speeches. Leadership attended the conference also included Buxiaolin, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of the Autonomous Region, Chairperson of the Autonomous Region, and Honorary Chairperson of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch; Guo Changjiang, Deputy Secretary of Party Group and Vice Chairman of Red Cross Society of China; Zeng Yichun, member of the Standing Committee of Party Committee and head of Organization Department of the Autonomous Region and Honorary Chairperson of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch; Lian Su, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Autonomous Regional People’s Congress and Chief Supervisor of the first Board of Supervisors of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch; Ouyang Xiaohui, Vice Chairman of the Autonomous Region and President of the fourth Board of Directors of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch; Wang Zhonghe, Vice Chairman of Regional People’s Political Consultative Conference and Honorary Chairperson of Red Cross Society Inner Mongolia Branch; and Liu Xinle, Vice Chairman of Regional People’s Political Consultative Conference.

      This project has attracted many charitable organizations and social organizations to participate in the donation to effectively achieve over RMB 30 million of social funds to jointly support continuous implementation of “Sunshine Walking Assistance”.

      This is another move of “Sunshine Walking Assistance” for “I Can See”!

       In the next four years (2018-2021), this project will help 10,000 poverty-stricken cataract patients in the region, carry out “eye-protecting action” for teenagers, screen millions of young patients with eye diseases, provide free myopic glasses for 5,000 myopic teenagers and children from poverty-stricken families, and provide free corrective surgeries for 1,000 teenagers and children  suffering strabismus from poverty-stricken families to achieve full coverage of eye protection for young people in national and regional poverty-stricken banners and counties.
