“After the amputation of my legs,

I became a burden to my family.

I have been ‘crawling’ for 20 years.

After having these two shank prostheses,

I suddenly became a ‘sound’ person again.

Finally, I ‘stand’ up,

I can work in the fields, and I can ride a horse or a motorcycle...”

A beneficiary from Gadamorui Village, Bayantala Town,  Horqin Left Middle Banner expressed his gratitude for the “Lao Niu Sunshine Walking Assistance” project.

For people with disabilities like this, the social pressure they face is something that ordinary people cannot imagine – sudden drop of quality of life, predicament of economic conditions, and serious hurt in self-esteem. Helping them to get out of the shadows to achieve rehabilitation is a crucial step in changing the status quo of their lives and even their future fate. Rehabilitation assistance not only helps them to recover normal life and participate effectively in production, life, and employment, but also encourages them to return to society and actualize their own values.

In order to promote the humanitarian spirit and accurately help the poverty-striken people with lower limb disability in Inner Mongolia to achieve the goal of “standing up and going out”, our Foundation initiated “Sunshine Walking Assistance” project to provide free prosthetic limb assembly and rehabilitation services. From 2013 to 2017, our Foundation accumulatively donated 6 million yuan and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region allocated 6 million RMB in equal funds; under the organization and coordination of Inner Mongolia Disabled Persons’ Federation and Inner Mongolia Rehabilitation Service Center,  this project has helped nearly 3,000 people with lower limb disability in the past four years, basically achieving the goal of helping all lower-limb handicapped in the region to “stand up”.
