[Secretary-General’s News] Monaco Charity Trip Has Brought to a Successful Close

        Monaco Charity Trip

        On October 12th, the Executive Director and Secretary-General of our foundation, Mr. Lei Yongsheng, went to Monaco for a three-day charity trip.

        On the evening of the 12th, Secretary-General Lei, as the Chinese supervisor of CGPI, participated in the “GPL Visiting Course”, commented on the students from the perspective of “charity and environmental protection”, and expected them to consider environmental protection subjects when conducting graduation project design.

        On 13th and 14th, “Patron of Nature” conference organized by IUCN was held at Monaco Yacht Club. Mr. Niu Gensheng, the founder and Honorary President of our foundation, was invited as one of the first batch of Chinese philanthropist “Patrons of Nature” joining IUCN; and Secretary-General Lei attended the conference in Monaco upon invitation on behalf of Mr. Niu, and shared opinions and discussed about “conservation and sustainable development of coastal area”, “nature conservation and charity” and other topics with many domestic and foreign public welfare colleagues and charity leaders from IUCN, East-West Philanthropists Summit, and CGPI.

        On the afternoon of the 13th, Secretary-General Lei participated in “Wildlife Conservation Conference”, where four Patrons of Nature shared their practice in environmental protection with GPL students. In the evening, Secretary-General Lei and the other more than ten Patrons of Nature including Ms. Noor Hussein, Queen of Jordan, attended the welcome banquet co-hosted by Prince Albert II of the Principality of Monaco and Prince Karl Philippe of Sweden.

        On the 14th, “Patron of Nature” conference was chaired by Dr. Inge Anderson, Director General of the IUCN, and Prince Albert II of the Principality of Monaco attended this conference as well. Patrons of Nature introduced their practice of the year, discussed the next development plan of IUCN and the issues of “70th anniversary ceremony” in 2018. Secretary-General Lei introduced Lao Niu Foundation’s work on environmental protection, and proposed ideas and suggestions about IUCN’s “future development and initiatives” and the “70th Anniversary Publicity and Celebration”, obtaining acceptance and agreement of Director-General Dr. Engel Anderson and the participants.

        On the evening of the 14th, Secretary-General Lei also participated in the project announcement conference jointly organized by East-West Philanthropists Summit and CGPI and gave a speech to advocate “global charity’s joint action for protecting mother earth”, obtaining resonance with the audience.

        In the breakfast meeting on the 15th, Director-General Dr. Inger Andersen and Secretary-General Lei had thorough communication and discussion about the former public welfare practice of IUCN and Lao Niu Foundation as well as the possibilities of future cooperation.
